Mage

Only the light of the false suns and the neon signs can illuminate the sky during the burning nights. The city lives as if nothing is wrong with the absence of daylight. 

The mage: a lowly time wizard in training. They could have excelled in fire magic, but chose this desolate life instead. The secrets of time were just too enticing to pass up. After years of studying and grunt work, only an elementary level of time magic was allowed to be taught to the poor mages.

Once the rainy season starts, nightlife ceases to exist. The searing rain burns though most surfaces, making those who choose to feel its singing touch either suspicious or desperate.

Still studying in solitude, the mage wishes to fix the past. Something has changed. No longer can time be wasted. The secrets of time must be revealed now.

The Kindling Harvest reaps the rewards of the acidic rainfall upon the resilient crops. Life can begin again, as the acid waste drains from the city streets.

Their pursuit of knowledge, halted by the laws of society. Ashes are all that remain, of the poor mage.
